Suns out, bookworms out. I’ve moved house, got a fresh stack of books to dive into whilst I sunbathe in the back garden (divine!) and a whole host of ideas on how to actually whittle down my bookshelves. My decision fatigue on picking new books has been r e a l lately, but I’m hoping that getting some extra vitamin D is going to help me kick that in the butt for good.
📖 Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros
First up this month is Fourth Wing. I know! I am the last person on planet Earth to read this! I have finally – much to the joy of my encouraging best friend – picked this up. I’m already half way through and it’s embarassing that I didn’t read this in 2023. It’s so my kinda thing it hurts. Nothing groundbreaking going on here, but a great escapist read. It’s got dragons, a fierce heroine, and a gripping plot that promises to keep up way past my bedtime.
📖 4321 by Paul Auster
Okay this one may seem rogue and THAT’S BECAUSE IT IS BABY. Back when I was 21 I wanted to be cultured and read the entire Booker Prize shortlist. I am still two books away from finishing that 2017 quest, 4321 is the penultimate novel. Or should I say, tome. It’s over a thousand pages. You’d have thought I’d have donated this as I haven’t read it in 7 years and can be used as a doorstop but the concept sounds so interesting that I can’t. It follows the life of one character, but in four parallel worlds, each shaped by different choices and circumstances. I’ve decided that each month I’m going to start working through the books that have been on my shelves the longest – starting alphabetically by author. 4321 needs to go well, otherwise this plan could crash and burn horribly.
📖 Wildfire by Hannah Grace
For a bit of romance and adventure after the mammoth read above, I’m picking up Wildfire by Hannah Grace. This one seems like the perfect summer read – a mix of love, suspense, and the great outdoors. I’ve just starting getting back into romance books and I think this one will be easy to breeze through on a sunny afternoon with a cold savvy b.
📖 You Me on Vacation by Emily Henry
Last but not least, I’m diving into You Me on Vacation by Emily Henry. Again, criminal that I am yet to read an Emily Henry book when everyone seems to love her work and The Works have just started stocking her entire collection. This story follows two best friends who decide to take one last vacation together in an attempt to fix their strained relationship. It’s got humor, heart, and plenty of travel vibes – basically, everything I need for a perfect summer read!
So that concludes my definite June reads and maybe they’ll be room for one or two more somewhere along the way…
Let me know in the comments if you’ve read any of these and what you thought about them!
